Our educational psychology clinic is able to offer specialist therapeutic support, consultation and assessment for children who are struggling both at home and in school.
Teachers work exceptionally hard to understand the complex needs of some of their pupils and to support them achieve their potential. Often a child’s teacher is the first person to notice something is not quite right. Our educational psychology service supports teachers in understanding and identifying some of the mental health needs of children who may be struggling and are unable to access local services.
Our educational psychology service promotes:
- More positive educational outcomes for children who are struggling both at home and in school
- Building resilience in both children and families to foster wellbeing
- Cultivating a more positive experience of school for children
- Positive assessment of children’s emotional and behavioural struggles

We offer therapeutic educational services in the form of:
- Consultation to key members of staff; head teachers, class teachers, teaching assistants and SENCO’s. We can offer regular consultation around the specific needs of a pupil to key staff to help find more effective ways to support and nurture a child’s readiness for learning
- Training whole school or small group training sessions on a range of topics to enhance teacher skills and understanding as well as identifying the need for additional professional support to schools
- Direct work with children and/or small groups of children
- Parental support in the form of one-off consultation or more frequent parental consultations. We also offer support to parents through our mini workshop series designed to support parents develop a greater understanding of children’s mental health as well as provide them with practical strategies on how to promote emotional well-being in their child
