Dr. Doreen Baxter

Doreen is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist with over twenty years’ experience in specialist brain injury rehabilitation working in both inpatient and community-based settings. Her principal work involved the clinical assessment, formulation and treatment of patients with a wide-range of neurological conditions. Doreen was a specialist Neuropsychologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London where she gained expertise in working with people with various neurological disorders including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke and brain tumour. She developed a specialist interest in acquired dysgraphia following strokes.

Since leaving the NHS Doreen continues to undertake complex neurological assessments and post-diagnostic intervention for people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and central nervous system difficulties. Doreen has particular expertise in complex diagnostic assessment, cognitive rehabilitation and cognitive behavioural therapy. She also works with families in cases where therapy is required alongside neuropsychological rehabilitation.

Doreen has completed training in EMDR and is particularly interested in developing and tailoring interventions to young people and adults who have acquired brain injuries. She is also an Expert Witness, experienced in giving written and oral evidence in Civil and Family Courts as well as preparing complex medico-legal assessments of Neuropsychological and Cognitive Ability, Mental Capacity alongside assessment relating to Personal Injury Claims involving the patient and their ability to return to work.

Doreen is a fully registered Chartered Clinical Neuropsychologist with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
